How It All Began...
After having our son Matt, who turns 5 on Dec 30, 2008 and our daughter Lauren, who turned 2 on Aug 4, 2008, Aaron and I always wanted a third child. So we began fertility treatments as we did to have Lauren. After six months of treatments, and no pregnancy, our last and final attempt was successful. We were thrilled to learn we were pregnant, and shortly went back to the doctor to confirm it was just one baby. The doctor thought he was 99% sure it was one. But on a subsequent visit, with Matt present, I can remember when the doctor said, after a long pause, "Did I tell you that you were having one?" Aaron replied "yes, you did, why is there two?" And the doctor informed us "No, I count three!!!"
I didn't speak a word until the doctor put his hand on my leg and said "Carrie, are you OK?" As tears ran down my face, I nodded and said "uh-huh". On the ride home Matt asked me, "Mommy please stop crying", and I said "oh honey, these are tears of joy".
